Writer: Rose Melinda Bayn / February 2025

Boom Boom Karrie has been a dedicated presence in the Second Life live music scene for over 13 years, fostering a music community and helping performers find their audience.

Her passion for music stems from a deeply personal place—her mother’s extensive music collection, which dates back nearly 80 years. Growing up surrounded by music, it was only natural that this love would find its way into her Second Life experience. Becoming a host and manager not only allowed her to stay connected to her passion but also provided a practical way to earn Lindens while doing something she truly enjoyed.

Outside of the virtual world, Boom Boom Karrie dedicates time to volunteering with senior citizens and makes an effort to attend local live music events whenever possible. Her love for music is not confined to a single space—it spills over into real-life experiences, reinforcing its role as a lifelong passion.

In Second Life, her time is primarily spent hosting and organizing events, with a particular focus on supporting Relay For Life (RFL). These events bring together talented musicians and appreciative audiences, creating a space where creativity flourishes. While most of her experiences have been positive, with opportunities to meet incredible artists and supportive attendees, she acknowledges that, on rare occasions, a disruptive presence can appear.

Reflecting on her journey, Boom Boom Karrie expresses gratitude for the existence of a platform where performers can showcase their talents. Second Life offers a unique space for musicians to share their artistry, and as a host and manager, she takes pride in facilitating these connections. Through her dedication, she has helped shape a thriving music community that continues to bring joy to both artists and audiences alike.
