SL ISO Spotlight / January 2025

"I've been a resident of Second Life since 2007 and over the years I've obviously lived several lives, all rich in learning, experience and discovery. I've been able to take part in numerous community projects, and I've met people from all walks of life and of all nationalities, at a pace that wouldn't have been possible in the real world. I've seen the metaverse evolve both in terms of the profile of its users and the technical tools made available to them, which have enabled them to push back the boundaries of creative expression. That's what's always captivated me about Second Life, the opportunity it gives everyone to express their inner selves, through all kinds of artistic disciplines in particular. On a more personal note, I've always loved music in all its forms and styles. Music gives depth and intensity to life, transforming seemingly banal moments into moments of pure delight, epic flights of fancy or precious conversations with our soul.

I've noticed that Second Life is often a place where reality is represented through mimetic creations, but that it is also a place where we can free ourselves from fidelity to visual reality at any time. So, as this virtual world is a bridge between reality and abstraction, I see music, abstract by nature, as a link between body, soul and spirit. In other words, the world I see, the world I feel and, ultimately, the world I desire. It is an artistic medium that frees us from reproducing visual reality in favour of more dynamic, symbolic or imaginary forms. In pictorial representation, for example, we speak of colour chords, tonal ranges and vibratory intensities."
